Roam At Home: Discovering Vikings in York

“The city walls and castle would have to be a must, as would the Jorvik Viking Centre. The British food scene is apparently among the best in the country so plenty of eating too.”

We’re a travel, tourism and marketing agency specialising in domestic travel and UK holiday companies.

That means our team are UK travel know-it-all’s, frequently setting off on staycation breaks near and far. We wanted to catch up with some of the team to find out where they love to roam at home and what UK destinations are on their bucket-list for a weekend away.

Our Account Director, Nathan, has his sights set on discovering the Vikings and Romans on a weekend to York.

Where would you like to visit in the UK?
York

Is it one for the bucket list?
Yes definitely, I’ve not been before so it’s a top choice for me.

What is about York that makes you want to head there for a visit?
To bring out my inner history nerd – York is steeped in Roman and medieval history. It’s also meant to be very similar to my hometown of Norwich with beautiful architecture and plenty of tucked away lanes placed with independent shops and restaurants.

What are some of the sights/activities that you’d like to see?
The city walls and castle would have to be a must, as would the Jorvik Viking Centre. The British food scene is apparently among the best in the country so plenty of eating too.
