We’re a travel, tourism and marketing agency specialising in domestic travel and UK holiday companies. That means our team are UK travel know-it-all’s, frequently setting off on staycation breaks near and far. We wanted to catch up with some of the team to find out where they love to roam at home and what UK destinations are on their bucket-list for a weekend away.

An archipelago of islands off of the Cornwall coast has been a place of fond memories for Thissaway Managing Director, Pete.

Where is your favourite destination to holiday in the UK?

The Isles of Scilly.

Have you been there before or is it a place that’s on your bucket list?

I first went when I was 2, and 40 years later I’m still going back.

Why is it your favourite place in the UK to head for a staycation break?

It’s one of the most relaxing places in the world. You leave your car behind, walk everywhere and there’s a deserted beach around every corner. On a sunny day it’s like being in the Caribbean (honest!).

What are some of your favourite things to do/or you want to do there?

It’s made up of five inhabited islands, which can all be accessed by boat. It’s only a short ride across the water, but each one has a slightly different atmosphere, from the chi-chi Tresco, to the quiet seclusion of St Agnes. When you’re not on a boat there’s lots of walking to be done and some amazing wildlife, from seals to puffins. If you want to escape, it’s the place for you.
